Leaders from advocacy providers across the country have worked collaboratively again. This time they have provided a sector-wide response to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence on their recent consultation for advocacy services for adults with health and social care needs.  Connected Voice Advocacy was a collaborator and the key messages from the sector were:

Registration and booking arrangements are now live to vaccinate front line staff in voluntary organisations in Gateshead. The designated site for these vaccinations is the QE hospital.

In October 2020 the CQC published the final report on their review of autistic people and people with a learning disability and/or mental health condition who may be subject to restrictive practices as a result of ongoing concerns in this area.

The Advocacy Conference held during Advocacy Awareness Week at the end of October 2020 included a wealth of interesting workshops and sessions on a whole range of issues vital to the sector. Some of these are now available to watch.

The Spirit of Christmas Appeal, led by Connected Voice in collaboration with Newcastle City Council and Gateshead Council, has raised a total £63,535 thanks to donations from 160 local businesses and residents.

Northern Gas and Power, based on Gateshead Quays, has generously donated £40,000 to Newcastle and Gateshead’s Spirit of Christmas Appeal. £20,000 of that total was a personal donation by the company’s CEO, Fokhrul Islam.

The appeal has now raised over £50,000 and the fund is now open to voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations operating in Newcastle and / or Gateshead.
